Good afternoon fellas,

 

Hope you’re all keeping well.  

 

Each year that goes by proves more of a challenge to organise the Tour and that's just probably a sign of the times we're living in so this year is no exception.

 

Originally, I was looking at the Algarve but the flights just aren't available to suit what we need, at the price to suit the Tour budget.  I then started looking at the old favourites such as Beni and Salou and as we've done Beni many times I focused on Salou.  The latter was looking promising until I started looking at the golf courses.  Those that have attended Salou Tours previously will have enjoyed playing Costa Dourada, Lumine Lakes and Hills, and Bonmont golf clubs, all of which were top class especially Bonmont in my opinion - one of my all-time favourite courses.  Sad to report that Bonmont closed during the pandemic and has never reopened with no signs of it doing so.  Lumine courses have been taken over by a company called Infinitum and they are now in the middle of a complete renovation of the Hills course with the back 9 currently under reconstruction until August, with the front 9 to follow straight after.  As a result, I've ruled out Salou I'm afraid.

 

One destination I've looked at for years but could never find a combination of flights and courses in our price bracket, is Tenerife.  Last week however I found flights that have been released that are comparable to other destinations we've travelled to; I've since obtained quotes for the golf too so that I can pull a package together.  October is Tenerife's peak golf period with prices per round close to £200.  All-in deals you will find online well in excess of £1k too so I've been pleasantly surprised with the quotes I've obtained.  As a result, this year's Tour destination is Tenerife, a new one for us to visit.

 

Happy to run the usual 4 and 5-night stay options to accommodate everyone’s preferences, with 3 rounds to be played over both options.  I will be creating a poll on our group WhatsApp so look out for this and assist by registering your interest ASAP please as in order to secure our preferred courses and tee times.  I will also be asking each of you that commit to follow this up with an immediate payment of a non-refundable £300 deposit to secure and book the flights.  If you can do this over the next few days that would be appreciated as this is the key action as once we have that (financial) commitment (and flight booking), I can then go to the golf booking agent and secure our preferred tees and courses ASAP.  It also prevents the flight costs from increasing as the sooner they are booked the price is locked in whereas delays in booking will be prone to the flight operator algorithymns that will impact the flight price. 

 

As a heads up in advance of the WhatsApp poll, I have listed some of the key details below.  There may be some slight changes but the sooner people commit with the £300 deposit, the less likelihood changes will occur; things like dates/hotel will remain fixed.
