Email from Jason on 5th February 2026

Evening fellas,

The weeks seem to pass quicker than usual after Christmas and New Year (or is that just an age thing? ) so as we hit February, I'm looking to get numbers for this year's Tour.

Bit of a change for 2026 so we're going to give Spain a miss and head to its border neighbour, Portugal. It will be 16 years since we last visited the Algarve for the Society so we're due a visit. I've been out there with the lads from Blocko the last couple years staying in Vilamoura Marina and playing some of the prestige golf courses out there. To play them in October would take us into the £2k+ price bracket range for 4 nights & 3 rounds as it's high season so I'm exploring more affordable options, but ones that will still provide a good golfing challenge. In my opinion, the prestige courses are massively overrated compared to what we've played in Spain over the years.

This year there will only be a 4-night option I'm afraid with the usual 3 rounds to be played. I will be creating a poll on our group WhatsApp so look out for this and assist by registering your interest ASAP please to help gauge take up, and secure the preferred courses, tee times, at the best prices. Steve will also create an event on our website so in addition to the WhatsApp poll, when you are all-in please register through the website and further commit with an immediate payment of a non-refundable £300 deposit to secure and book the flights. If this can be done by the end of February please (Sat 28th) that will help in booking flights and tee times. It also helps secure lower flight costs as the sooner they are booked, the price is locked in whereas delays in booking are prone to the flight operator algorithms that impact the price.

Regarding flights, Portugal always proves difficult finding nearby airports with suitable flight times and prices. Subsequently, I have spread the net a little wider to Manchester and Luton. Not ideal so Birmingham and East Mids will still be options but prices at the moment are 3 x times higher than from Luton/Manchester. I'll therefore provide 2 options in due course: one Midlands and one other from Manchester/Luton TBC. This will result in 2 price models to reflect the cost from your preferred airport. What I'm looking for at the minute though is your indication/confirmation of attendance to allow me to confirm costs.

As a heads up, in advance of the WhatsApp poll, I have listed some of the key details below. I've already booked the hotel on a free cancellation basis. As ever, there will be a few tweaks here and there but the sooner people commit with the £300 deposit, less changes will occur; things like dates/hotel will remain fixed.
